Truss elaborated she would reveal how an "international network of progressives work to weaken popular rule and the public's choice."

"We will examine the Trump revolution and observe how it can be replicated in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Trumpist political sphere."

Before the program's debut, there was a notably ardent backer. "This represents the dawn of a kind of political shift," remarked John Solomon. His media outlet Just the News will host the former prime minister's new broadcasts.

Establishing Ties in the Conservative Media Landscape

UK-based allies, including a pro-Reform adviser, played a role in her launch the her new show. Its staging is adequate, if basic. She has gathered ten thousand followers in her initial seven days and her debut had 67,000 views during that week.

This represents a humble beginning, but in partnering with the journalist, the former PM is being entering a well-developed conservative ecosystem producing and amplifying pro-Trump narratives. Key fixations encompass claims of media suppression by the mainstream media and a aim to remove a shadowy government apparatus – which she attributes her downfall to for the swift end of her disastrous time in office.

"The platform is not widely recognized past the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have influence there, largely because of John Solomon, who gives commentary on Maga platforms like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even spoken with Donald Trump," said an anthropology expert, who has closely studied the Maga movement.

A Contentious Ally

Her effort to import American conservative media to the United Kingdom has aligned her more closely to controversial figures such as John Solomon.

He founded the platform in the wake of scrutiny after he was accused of promoting false stories about Biden's anti-corruption work in Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about ex-ambassador to that country.

These allegations were repeated across the pro-Trump outlets, with the journalist featuring as a common interviewee on the widely-watched Fox News show. Donald Trump boosted the journalist's work.

The journalist published the allegations regarding Ukraine in a series of columns for the outlet The Hill, where he was re-designated as an opinion writer when staffers raised concerns regarding his reporting. His narratives were key in the then-president's request for the Ukrainians to probe Hunter Biden and his father in 2019. This pressure resulted in impeachment charges targeting Donald Trump. The Senate later acquitted the president.

Weeks after he exited the publication in October 2019, the publication revealed it was carrying out a examination of his work relating to Ukraine. It concluded the journalist had used untrustworthy contacts and said he "did not disclose key facts about main Ukrainian informants, such as the reality that they had been charged or were under investigation."

Entering the Ecosystem

Solomon's own broadcast spots are a sign of the political media environment Truss is becoming part of. He discussed his backing of her new show on a show he co-hosts on the conservative cable network, a conservative television outlet that is home to the pro-Trump commentator ex-Trump strategist Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also appears. Solomon's own broadcasts have often featured figures such as commentator Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose disparagement of the US Agency for International Development was referenced by the X owner as reasoning behind shutting down the international development organization.

An International Strategy

While her awkward delivery and career difficulties have drawn derision in Britain, some US observers are taking seriously her attempts to rebrand as a local version of the Make America Great Again press.

"One must regard folks like that as significant, although you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," said Rob Flaherty, who was employed in the Obama White House.

"You saw how in 2024 the former president leveraged that media network to get his message out. Certainly that network spreads and shapes conversation abroad. It looks quite apparent to me that the circumstances in the UK are akin to what permitted this non-mainstream media network to prosper in the US."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already having an impact in the United Kingdom.

"The internet knows no borders," he said. "There exists a sort of environment within which content circulates – on occasion manifesting in radical ways and occasionally in softer tones – but which is networked."

The academic said the growth of the digital conservative movement in the United Kingdom recently meant the "potential to have a growing impact is significant."
